Hidden just a few hundred meters off the country lane between Tam Coc and Bich Dong Pagoda, Thung Nang ("Valley of Sunshine") is a serene waterway beloved for its golden light, reed beds and zero crowds.
While most day-trippers only know Tam Coc or Trang An, the village road linking Tam Coc, Thai Vi Temple and Bich Dong Pagoda passes right beside the peaceful boat pier of Thung Nang.
Rowed by local farmers from Dam Khe village, sampans drift through sun-drenched water lilies and reeds, pass through a low 100-meter stalactite tunnel into a secluded valley, and stop at the shady forest shrine of Thoong Nang Temple.
